Bobbyn Bouie In Action!

Bouie, returning after a three month layoff, breezes five furlongs at Louisiana Downs on May 25 with exercise rider, Nick Vandevoorde.   This work was one in a series of drills in his preparation for an early July outing.

       Stable News

Bobbyn Bouie and Yes I'm Niner went to Louisiana Downs on June 22 for a six furlong breeze together. Regular rider, David Elston, was aboard Bouie and with the injury to Beverly Burress on Friday, I ended up on Niner!!   The two geldings broke off together at the 3/4 mile pole. Right away, Bouie put his head in front. Niner would not be outdone and quickly accelerated to look Bouie in the eye. Again Bouie gained a head advantage. Niner stepped it up once more to draw even. They went stride for stride around the turn. Coming out of the turn, it was Yes I'm Niner a good neck in front. David shook his big gray up a bit and had no trouble passing the little bay. Niner dug in and gave a game chase, crossing the finish line with his nose at Bouie's side.

My Sister Norman ran Saturday, June 14 at Louisiana Downs. She was asked to step up her game a bit in a $12,500 7 furlong claiming event. Prior to acquring her, she had been running at the $7,500 level. She trailed early through rapid fractions of 45 for the half and 1:10 for the 3/4 mile split, then rallied late for a game 5th place finish, beaten only 4 lengths, while continuing to close ground on the leaders.

Spirit's Joy made her first trip to Louisiana Downs on June 8. She has been training very well at the farm and learning her lessons quickly. Joy was intriqued by the new sights and activities at the track but handled the new experience like a real pro.

One Tuff Lil Dude worked 5 furlongs from the gates with an equipment change. We have added blinkers to help him focus during his races. His rider, David Elston, reported that Tuff went very well, was quiet but alert in the gates and broke sharply.

Chip Hunter came to us with a injury to his neck. He had quite a bit of swelling in the upper part of his neck which made it very stiff and sore. We are happy to report that he is healing quickly and received a favorable checkup from his veterinarian.

WANTED: BOWED TENDONS !!!

Traditionally bowed tendons had one course of treatment, which was to blister the injured tendon, turn the horse out for a year and just keep your fingers crossed that it healed. Recent advances in treatment now include surgery, which is expensive. I have  developed a course of treatment for bowed tendons that involves plenty of hands on therapy with controlled, daily exercise to rebuild the tendon and reduce scar tissue development. Over the past few years I have applied my treatment to a handful of horses with a 100% success rate. Every horse I treated was back at the races within 4 -6 months. Strike Terror was the first horse I applied my method to. He returned to the races in only three months and went on to win two and finished in the money at every distance from 4 1/2 furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth, while competing at three different tracks. Not only have the tendons healed but scar tissue is so minimal that the tendons look like they had never been injured. If you have a horse with a bow and would like to see it return to the races, give me a call at (318) 663-4555. What have you got to lose?
