Feel the Thunder and Excitement of Thoroughbred Horseracing!

                       WELCOME TO MY RANCH!

Located in northwest Louisiana, this modest 60 acre spread is about 30 miles south of Shreveport.  My barn has fifteen  12' x 12' stalls with feed and tack rooms.  There is a 70' round pen, a 3/4 mile training track with a three horse starting gate.  I have plans to add a swimming hole for the horses.  My broodmare band consists of 4 mares, which is enough for me because I raise them to run. When the resulting foals are retired from the track, they are carefully placed in loving homes, usually at no cost to the recipient.  This page is dedicated to my "family" of four-legged (and two legged) friends.

                                BOBBYN BOUIE

Bouie is a five year old gray gelding with a captivating personality. He is very laid back and eager to please.  Not only is he the star of the barn, he recenlty gave  rides to small children who came to visit .

                                         ROGER

Roger is guardian of the barn. This is his place and he is not afraid to let anyone know it.  The smallest of three, he was rejected by his mother and raised on a bottle in my kitchen!  He grew up playing with the dogs and does not believe he is a goat.

                            ONE TUFF LIL DUDE

Tuff was a gift to me from Joe and Joyce Pickett when he was a yearling.  He was a very big boy back then and I have taken a lot of time preparing him for the track. Now four years old, this gelding is a monster at nearly 17 hands.  He has issues with patience but loves to train!  I believe he will excel late this summer as he reaches maturity.

                                      MR. GOOSE

This is the town cry-er.  His mate was recently caught by coyotes and the poor guy wanders the farm, squaking all day. I have been in search of a new "wife" for him but geese are hard to find around here.  The search will continue for a mate and hopefully this lonely fellow will have companionship soon.

                                        ROSEBUD

Rosebud is the farm mascot.  A birthday present for my daughter, Beth, when she turned three, he has been with us now for 13 years.  This little guy could do it all. Beth and Rosebud showed regularly in 4-H shows.  Since he was the only pony competing, Beth was often ridiculed by the other children who rode "real" horses.  Although he is pony sized at 12 hands, his heart is as big as Texas.  He won numerous Hi-Point and Reserve Hi-Point awards while showing in a variety of events.  Some of his major accomplishments were Champion Pole Bender, Champion Halter Gelding, and Champion Western Pleasure Horse.  After retiring from the show ring, Rosebud often visited day care centers to entertain the toddlers and was a popular attraction at birthday parties because he bobs for apples.  One of his favorite treats are snow cones.

                             ZARBYEV NIGHT BOY

Zarby is a hyper active, very demanding four year old gelding.  He is very playful and loves attention.  If he is ignored, he acts as though he is mad and pretends he is going to eat someone up!  As soon as someone stops to pet him,  the ugly look leaves his face and his ears prick up. His favorite toy is an old broken halter that he swings around in the air.

                                       CAMMIE

This is the life!!  After a hard day of chasing birds, Cammie takes a snooze.  This beautiful Springer Spaniel was found wandering along the side of a major highway.  No owner could be found so this super sweet girl stayed here.  She is very dedicated to her family and absolutely adores cats.

                                   AFTERNOON FUN

My daughter, Beth, and Max, who is now 14 years old. He is one of those "do anything for anybody" type horses. He has been with us since he was a yearling. Max has competed in 4-H shows, been on trail rides and performed in quadrille. Beth loves three day eventing and as you can see, she is quite a capable rider.  Believe it or not, this picture was taken as Max was going over jumps for the very first time!!

                                  Zarbslildiamond

This three year old bay gelding appears to have a whirlwind of talent. Unraced at two, he is preparing to make his debut at Louisiana Downs this summer. If his energies can be channeled into running, he will make a huge impact on the track.

Much more to come!!!

There are quite a few residents here and I will put as many as possible up for all to see, as time allows.   Keep checking back!!!
